Which Fredericksburg Wine Club Is Right for You?

Three friends toasting with red and white wine at a patio table under the trees

Joining a wine club is the most popular souvenir from a Fredericksburg trip. It's also the one people second-guess when the first shipment shows up. I've watched a lot of guests sign up on tour, so here's how to choose well.

The four things that matter

  • Bottles per shipment. Most clubs offer 3, 6 or 12 bottles.
  • How often. Anywhere from monthly to a few times a year.
  • Commitment. Many require a minimum number of shipments, often three, or a one-year membership before you can cancel.
  • Perks you'll actually use. Free tastings for you and your guests are only worth it if you'll be back in town.

Real examples from the wine trail

Here's how a few clubs compare as of fall 2026. Terms change, so confirm with the winery before you join.

  • Heath Family Brands (Grape Creek, K Estate, Invention and Heath Sparkling): free to join, and you pay per shipment. Members get 15% off wine, dining and merchandise and up to two complimentary glasses per visit at any of their locations.
  • Texas Wine Collective: 3-, 6- and 12-bottle wine or cider clubs with a three-shipment minimum. Members get a complimentary tasting for up to four people a day, plus perks at Lost Oak and McPherson.
  • Signor Vineyards: three tiers with a three-release minimum, 10% to 20% off bottles and complimentary tastings for the member plus a guest.
  • Kalasi Cellars: 3-, 6- and 12-bottle options, 15% off wine and a one-year commitment.
  • Halter Ranch: no upfront fee, with the first shipment purchased at sign-up and perks you can use at its California tasting rooms too.

Free-to-join vs. buy-in clubs

Free-to-join clubs charge you per shipment and nothing up front. Buy-in clubs ask for a first purchase or a set number of bottles when you sign up. Neither is better. Just know which one you're signing before the excitement of the tasting room takes over.

Already a member somewhere?

Bring your card on tour. If one of our stops is your club's winery, many clubs include a complimentary tasting or glass for members, and sometimes a guest. If your winery is on our list, tell us when you book a Private tour and we'll try to work it in.

Every winery in our winery guide has its wine club details on its own page: bottles, how often, cost and perks.

My honest advice

Join the club at the winery where you bought the most bottles that day. Your own shopping bag is the best preference survey there is. And if you're torn, take a bottle home first and join after you've opened it at your own table.
